55PGA PICNIC JULY 26/09
What started off as a beautiful early Sunday morning turned out into a day of wild and tumultuous electrical thunderstorms with spurts of sunshine.
Nevertheless, a few hardy and brave seniors(about 50) decided to ride out the storm and wade in to the picnic site , which was held in a sheltered area, in the beautiful Erindale Park. The Credit River was fast flowing and some avid fishermen (not 55PGA) tried their luck with “baited” breath.
When the sun broke through we were able to have the tie-tying relay, play dodge ball and have an egg( hard boiled of course) eating contest. The weather did not dampen the spirits of the die-hard card players, who recruited novice players to join in.
Entertainment was provided by Romeo & Belinda , who dropped in for a visit with their friends. Romeo’s songs and guitar playing brought a few people to their feet to show off the cha cha cha moves and the likes.
The potluck and the biriyani ,samosas, bottled water and fruit salad ( gratis of the 55PGA) provided for a more than ample meal, which even allowed for all to take home a doggy bag.
We brought the evening to a close with the ever popular bingo.
I would like to thank all those who made the effort to brave the storm and support the PICNIC.
Thank you,
Juliet Rebello
